Reserve your place in History

The Kensington Palace Pavilion launch took place last Wednesday, 300 guests had a magical first-hand experience of the new event space after much anticipation of it’s opening. The Pavilion has completed an 18 month build and has been opened whilst The Orangery is closed for planned conservation work, it will be available to host events for three years and has been beautifully designed to sit amongst it’s incredible setting.

The evening was a collaborative showcase with a plethora of top London event suppliers,  alongside hosts HRP Events were; Cutture, By Word of Mouth catering, Event Concept, Young Guns entertainment, Simon Lycett Floristry, Great Hire, and Holly Clark photography, so you can imagine the delights that unfolded with those names on the bill…

Pearl and Pear were the official media partners for the event and you can read a fantastically detailed article all about the evening over here the evening was a huge success with guests being treated to fine dining, incredible entertainment (including a performance by the outstanding Tokio Myers) in a beautifully styled and considered setting by the above team, it really was an honour to be involved.

Here we would like to give you a run down of all the details we created for the event, as we know a sign of a great event is all about the detail (another great Pearl and Pear article all about the importance of details over here too with contribution from Helen!) whilst we create show stopping invitations, we also focus alot of our time on creating the all important details for events as well, from creative way finding to finding ways of making practical elements part of the decor to add that extra ‘wow’ factor.

The invitation

We began our creative journey on this project with the invitation. The concept for the event was to reveal the notion of ‘time’ – time representing the opening first Royal building through to the launch of the brand new Pavilion event space.

Our task was to create an invitation with a reveal, showcasing all of the Historic Royal Palaces Venues and their timeline in history.

Kensington Palace is one of six venues under the charitable umbrella of Historic Royal Palaces, a charity we have had the pleasure of working with for many years now on a number of events and marketing collateral. We set to work on designing a Fob watch styled invitation, using the magic window concept we managed to create an invitation which transformed from a fob watch to reveal an illustrative timeline of all the Venues under the HRP charity.

The invitations were constructed with over 15 hand finishing processes, hot foil stamped, laser cut and hand assembled to create the all important ‘magic window’ which turns as you pull the ribbon to reveal the second layer, beautiful GF Smith color plan papers were used along side our favourite GMund special gold card too.

With 300 guests arriving at the event it’s safe to say the invitations did their job well! It’s always lovely to receive post in this digital age, we truly believe that many Brands are now investing more than ever in printed goods to make that all important impression as it creates the emotive response you need, be it if it’s a Brand cementing customer service or a Brand needing a high attendance at an event, you really can’t beat a piece of great printed design to make that impression.

The Details

It was then onto the details, we worked alongside the HRP Event team and Simon Lycett to create some truly spectacular tablescapes. Again the recurring theme was time, so we focused on fob watches and the mechanisms of cogs for the escort tags, table numbers and menus.

The table numbers were truly beautiful, however here we show you how they began – not so beautifull! We began by drawing the cogs which were then laser cut out of grey board (above) these are then hand assembled by adding layers of textured gold card (also laser cut using the same cog design) with each table number art worked in their written form, finished off with acrylic stems to embed amongst the floral installations.

For the menus we were briefed that they needed to be bold and bright alongside black, so we cut a multitude of colours including the cog design, beautifully printed in white ink.

The Main Event

Simon Lycett, Event concept and By Word of mouth did a spectacular job in creating and transforming spaces,  details such as a sprig of Tyme for each guest gave a nod to heritage juxtaposed with acrylic cogs hanging from floral installations, and with live edged acrylic leaves amongst the Citrus Grove (a room transformation for dessert) whilst Young Guns entertained and Tokio Myers blew our minds with his performance, bringing the space to life.

And so we leave you with images of the whole event by the wonderful Holly Clark photography, as really they speak for themselves, do head over to the Pearl and Pear Blog for a detailed description and many more photos of the evening as it really was a spectacular sight, many congratulations to HRP events and we look forward to working together again soon.
